Takuma Tanaka
Japanese contemporary artist mainly active as a painter, born in 1977
Artist Statement
I myself am interested in our consciousness in the world since my childhood. So I have read many books from my youth.
In study of that, I have a great interest in biology. In learning this subject, I took an interest and studied Takashi Tachibana. He was called a giant of intelligence and taught at Tokyo University. I stopped learning at other Universities and tried to enter Tokyo University to learn directly from him. But as result, I could not do that, so I studied him through his published books.
I think art is related to many studies. For example, using pigment and so on, it’s related to chemicals. And we must learn by selling artworks, in both economic and marketing terms. And more when we paint the work, we must learn psychology to attract people. In addition to this making of intense artworks, we must learn the law. By looking like this, we must learn many studies.
My theme is from DNA’s Problem, Tree Man series, Cake Ship series or from the economy and sociology- Capitalism series, Human Sushi series. It seems all themes are not connected with each other, but I am influenced by the study of Takashi Tachibana. He teaches me that it is important that every study relates and is connected to each other. So I can continue art activity from now. I wish and would like to continue to learn, study and have an interest in many things.
